Neurology treatment in Israel
Leading private hospital, Herzliya Medical Center in Israel, the Center of Neurology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. The structure of the neurological center includes an outpatient department, the Department of Functional Studies of the Nervous System and the Visual Diagnostics and Rehabilitation Department. Herzliya Medical Center provides diagnoses and treatments for patients of all ages.

The Center of Neurology

Comprehensive analyses of patients with neurological signs and symptoms. Specialists at Herzliya Medical Center have extensive clinical experience in the diagnoses and treatment of numerous neurological diseases; this includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Cerebrovascular accident – stroke, circulatory disorders caused by narrowing of the carotid and vertebral arteries
  • Hydrocephalus – diagnosis and treatment of primary and secondary forms of the disease
  • Epilepsy in children and adults – selection of effective drugs. Patients with resistant forms of the disease may be forwarded to the Department of Neurosurgery for further solutions
  • Parkinson’s disease – including the group of side effects of extrapyramidal symptoms (tremor, movement disorders, gait, coordination, fall)
  • Multiple sclerosis and its complications
  • Alzheimer’s disease and other diseases associated with impaired cognitive function
  • Diseases of the peripheral nerves and neuromuscular synapses (connections), such as neuropathy, myasthenia gravis
  • Neuralgia – specialists use the most modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of pain of neurogenic origin
  • Migraines and differential diagnosis of conditions accompanied by headache

Neurological Disease Diagnosis at HMC

The Center of Neurology at HMC possess the most modern methods of diagnosing diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, including:

  • Computed tomography (CT) of the brain and spinal cord. This high-precision X-ray examination method allows for layering scanning of anatomical structures
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and spinal cord. Along with the traditional protocols MRI provides high-resolution images, experts of the Center of Neurology use the technique of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). This technique helps to explore not only the anatomical changes, but also to determine irregularities of the central nervous system
Positron emission tomography (PET-CT) of the brain using radioactive isotopes used to diagnose conditions accompanied by changes in the intensity of metabolic processes (metabolism). In neurology PET specialized protocols, in addition to the visualization of malignant tumors, are used to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis
  • Electroencephalography (EEG) – recording of electrical activity of the brain. This method is indispensable for diagnosis of epilepsy and conditions accompanied by spasms. In addition to the traditional protocol of study, specialists of the clinic used EEG-video monitoring – prolonged recording of electrical activity of the brain with video, allowing to carry out the correlation between changes in brain activity and the clinical condition of the patient, as well as sample recording of a seizure
  • Cerebral angiography – Research vessels and cerebral circulation using modern methods of fluoroscopy and ultrasound scanning (Doppler)
  • Myelography – X-ray contrast imaging of the spinal cord, allowing to diagnose pathological processes and structural disorders of the spinal cord and spinal canal, including tumors and cysts
  • Electromyography (EMG) – a technique of investigation of the electrical potential in the peripheral nerves and neuromuscular synapses. Research is extremely important in the differential diagnosis of neuropathies and conditions involving muscular weakness and/ or muscular atrophy
  • A lumbar puncture and a full investigation of cerebrospinal fluid for biochemical, cytological and bacteriological study
