Who is the most famous physician in Israel?
As of today, the health care in Israel holds one of the leading positions in the world. It has become possible, above all, due to the valuable contributions of the country’s physicians – highly-qualified specialists and true professionals in their respective fields. The educational system in Israel is such as to ensure that only the very best can become medical doctors: the typical competitive basis admission rate in the nation’s medical schools is about 500 applicants per place. The uphill work on the way to becoming a true specialist takes a medical student in Israel around 15-20 years of professional training on average. Within this time, a young doctor has to work as a resident and obtain two important licenses – of a general practitioner (GP) and a medical specialist (since specialization in any specific medical area alone generally requires some 5-6 years of training). However, even after obtaining all the necessary licenses and diplomas physicians in Israel keep developing and perfecting their professional skills. They regularly attend lengthy in-service training/advanced courses in other leading-edge countries and participate in international conferences and conventions. Publications in international medical journals serve as a prerequisite for professional development of every physician. The quantity and scientific relevance of such papers contribute significantly to a physician’s status in the world medical community. But what physicians are best-known in Israel? Presented below is information on the most famous physicians in Israel serving as an example of the top professional standards and profound responsibility towards the medical profession in this country.
